Parkinson Disease

Parkinson disease is a disorder of the brain's ability to control muscles. Its four primary symptoms are:

1. Tremor or trembling in hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face;
   
   
2. Rigidity or stiffness of the limbs and trunk;
   
   
3. Slowness of movement; and
   
   
4. Impaired balance and coordination.

Patients with Parkinson disease are typically under the care of a neurologist. Neurosurgeons can offer surgical therapy.
