Abstract: Despite the recent advances in the understanding of the mechanisms of HIV induced T cell depletion, it has not been possible to elucidate the specific virulence factors and as a consequence to create effective strategies for its eradication. It is mandatory to understand deeply the pathogenetic mechanisms of the HIV infection in order to face possible ways to destroy it. In order to fulfill this goal, we have to understand better important events like primary infection, the differences in progression to AIDS and specially those determinants of the host-virus relationship.
